Discussion on digital media tools in learning

Share on:

In my podcast, I explore Google classroom as a digital media learning tool and what pros and cons come with using the tool. We also touch upon the various features of Google classroom.

When I was assigned the task to explore one of the four topics provided, I embarked on my journey by diving into the class readings. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any valuable information related to the chosen subject. Feeling a bit lost, I decided to seek guidance from my tutor, who had always been a reliable source of advice.

After discussing my predicament with my tutor, she suggested that I narrow down the topic to one or two specific examples. Taking her advice to heart, I carefully considered my options and ultimately decided to delve into the pros and cons of Google Classroom as a digital media learning tool for students. This topic intrigued me, as I recognized the growing prominence of technology in education and wanted to explore its impact further.

With my new focus in mind, I set out to gather relevant information. My first step was to search for academic papers that addressed the topic at hand. After diligent research, I managed to find two papers that appeared to be promising sources. I dedicated ample time to reading and analyzing these papers, meticulously highlighting and noting down the key points that resonated with me.

As I progressed through my research, I began to compile an outline that would serve as the backbone of my exploration. I carefully incorporated the findings and insights from the academic papers I had studied, ensuring that I maintained a coherent and logical flow. This outline not only helped me organize my thoughts but also allowed me to identify any gaps that needed to be addressed or further researched.

Armed with my well-crafted outline, I realized that I wanted to present my findings in an engaging and accessible format. Inspired by the popularity of podcasts, I decided to create a transcript that would effectively convey my ideas to the audience. Carefully crafting the script, I aimed to strike a balance between informative content and an engaging delivery style, ensuring that the listeners would find the discussion both educational and enjoyable.

The process of delving into the pros and cons of Google Classroom as a digital media learning tool for students has been enlightening. Through thorough research and careful consideration, I have gained valuable insights into the benefits and limitations of this technology. I believe that exploring this topic in-depth will not only enhance my understanding but also contribute to the wider discourse surrounding the integration of digital media in education.

For my intro music for the podcast, I stuck to a simple tune which fades in and out, both at the beginning of the podcast, as well as the end. It builds up a slight sense of excitement and cheerfulness.

In conclusion, my exploration of Google Classroom as a digital media learning tool has been both enlightening and rewarding. Through diligent research, careful consideration, and the creation of a well-crafted podcast transcript, I have gained valuable insights into the pros and cons of this technology for students.

The Evolution of My Twitter Persona

Share on:

Hey there folks! Today, we’re going to delve into my Twitter journey from being a couch potato consumer to a semi-passive, no wait, actually an active user. Yeah, you heard it right! I finally got off my lazy bum and decided to participate in the Twitterverse.

In 2022, I joined Twitter with the intention of following writing, freelancing, and productivity content creators.
However, as time passed, my usage dwindled, and my account became almost inactive. It wasn’t until this trimester that I resumed using Twitter, and my persona on the platform has since evolved to revolve around my unit and its tasks. Nowadays, most of the people I interact with are other people in the same unit. Through these experiences, I have come to realize how my persona on Twitter can change over time as I adapt to new circumstances and engage with different audiences.

In September of 2022, I found myself joining Twitter just for the sake of having another social media platform to add to my collection. Unconsciously, I was following the trend that Smith and Watson discuss in their research, where individuals are viewed as products that can be traded and marketed on various online platforms (2013:79). At the time, I wasn’t aware of the impact that Twitter would have on my online persona.

Initially, I was content with simply following writing, freelancing, and productivity content creators. However, the more I browsed through the platform, the more I started to feel hesitant about sharing my own thoughts and ideas. I was scared of what people might think of me, and I felt intimidated by the idea of being judged and criticized.

A factor that influenced the evolution of my persona on Twitter was my relationships and interactions with different audiences. As I started to engage more with users in my unit, I found that my tone and style of communication began to shift to better fit the expectations of that audience. I also started to experiment with different types of content, such as memes and gifs, to better connect with this group.

Overcoming Hesitation: How Taking the First Step Paved the Way

When I began my studies in the “Making Social Media ALM101” unit, I was apprehensive about participating in class tasks, particularly the first one – creating an about me page. However, I recognized that taking that first step was the most daunting, and I overcame my hesitation to post on Twitter. This paved the way for me to post comfortably later on in the unit.

Now, my Twitter account primarily consists of tweets related to our class, including sharing interesting tidbits from our readings and completing unit tasks. To give you an idea, here are some examples of tweets I’ve posted, including those that showcase my key takeaways from the course.

Reflections on Persona and Authenticity

In addition to sharing my own experiences in the ALM101 Twitter space, I also want to share how this experience has impacted me. #MakingSocialMedia has opened up so many new avenues of conversation for me to explore, such as the question of whether we consciously think about how we present ourselves online each time we log in, as well as the concept of “calculated authenticity” and authenticity in general.

I’ve come to realize that no matter what we do or post online, we are always portraying a persona, and that our online persona is never the same as our true selves; it’s just a part of us. It’s interesting to note that the word “persona” comes from the Latin word “persona,” which means “mask” or “character played by an actor.” (Oxford Languages)

This ties in perfectly with the idea that authenticity is performative, and that no matter how we present ourselves, we are always presenting a character. It’s been an eye-opening experience to reflect on these concepts and to see how they apply to my own online presence.

Leveraging Twitter as a Networking Tool for Creating Opportunities.

In conclusion, my experience on Twitter has been a journey from being a passive consumer to becoming an active user. Looking forward, I aim to expand my engagement on the platform beyond just my unit, and leverage it as a powerful networking tool to create opportunities for myself. My ultimate goal is to transition from being a mere consumer to becoming a creator, taking full advantage of the platform’s potential.

Kindness In An Infinite Universe

Kindness In An Infinite Universe

Share on:

Have you ever had one of those moments where you just stop and think about the world and your place in it? You look up at the night sky and realize just how vast and infinite it all is, and suddenly your problems and struggles seem so small and insignificant.

It can be a humbling, even overwhelming, experience. But what if, instead of feeling overwhelmed and insignificant, we used that realization to inspire us to be kinder and more loving towards one another?

Everything Everywhere All At Once makes you realise exactly that. EEAAO is a masterpiece that brings human connection into sci-fi. Heck, even rocks in this movie can make you sob. Here are my favorite bits of the movie.

You know, it’s easy to get caught up in our own little worlds and think that we have everything figured out. But the truth is, no one really knows what’s going on. I mean, sure, we have experts and scientists that can explain certain things, but when it comes down to it, the universe is vast and complex, and there’s still so much we don’t know. Every new discovery is a reminder that we are small and that we’re stupid.

And that can be a daunting realization, right? But instead of feeling overwhelmed by the unknown, let’s use that realization to inspire us to be kinder towards one another. We may not have all the answers, but we can still make a positive impact on the lives of those around us through kindness and understanding.

Think about it, we’re all just trying to navigate this thing called life, and we’re all just doing the best we can. So, when we see someone struggling, instead of passing judgement, let’s offer a helping hand. When we see someone who’s different from us, instead of being fearful, let’s try to understand. And when we see someone who’s hurting, instead of turning a blind eye, let’s offer a listening ear.

And gathering wisdom from the sweetheart that Waymond Wang is, I present to you, “When I choose to see the good side of things, I’m not being naive. It is strategic and necessary. It’s how I’ve learned to survive through everything.”

Let me explain, when we focus on the negative, we start to see everything through a negative lens and it can be hard to appreciate the simple things in life. But when we choose to see the good side of things, we’re able to find the silver lining in even the toughest of situations. And that’s important, because life can be tough, and if we don’t have a positive outlook, it can be easy to get bogged down by the challenges.

And it’s not just about being happy-go-lucky all the time, it’s about being strategic and looking for the positive aspects of a situation. When we do that, we’re able to find meaning and purpose in our struggles, and that’s what truly matters in the end. It’s how we survive through everything.

It’s easy to get caught up in regrets, what-ifs, and missed opportunities. We often spend a lot of time dwelling on the past and what could have been. But the truth is, what could have been literally doesn’t matter. All that matters is what you have right now, and what you make of it.

It’s important to remember that the past is gone, and there’s nothing we can do to change it. But what we can do is focus on the present and make the most of what we have. We can use our experiences, learn from our mistakes, and make the present and future better.

With that, I wrap up my rambling of why I loved this movie and why you should watch it too.

Starting the New Year Late

Starting the New Year Late

Share on:

“New Year, New Me” is a phrase that we often hear around the beginning of the year as people reflect on the past and make resolutions for self-improvement. But what if life gets in the way and you’re unable to start your new year on January 1st? Does that mean you have to wait until next year to work on your goals?

The answer is no. The beauty of setting resolutions or goals is that you can do it at any time. It’s not necessary to tie it to a specific date on the calendar. In fact, starting your new year at a different time can be a great opportunity to reset and refocus.

Maybe you fell ill like the person who requested this content, or perhaps something else happened that prevented you from starting your new year as planned. Whatever the case may be, it’s important to remember that you are in control of your own journey. The start of a new year can be a great time to set goals and make positive changes, but it’s not the only time. You have the power to start fresh and work towards your goals at any time, so don’t let a missed opportunity hold you back.

It’s also important to keep in mind that progress and success are not always linear. There will be ups and downs along the way. The key is to keep moving forward, no matter when you start. So, if you didn’t get off to the best start this year, don’t worry. You can still make the most of the remaining months and accomplish great things.

To sum it up, don’t wait for the start of a new year to make a change. Start your new year anytime you feel ready and don’t let setbacks hold you back. You have the power to make positive changes in your life, no matter what time of year it is.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year guys!

So glad you’re here reading me ramble about something every week.

Last year has been… interesting and a ride, to say the least.

So instead of one thing that I elaborate on, I want to share a few little lessons instead.

  1. The way you treat yourself shows people how to treat you
  2. Stop shrinking yourself
  3. Document/record/capture your life as much as you can, you won’t regret it
  4. If it makes you happy, it’s important
  5. Happiness and satisfaction do not lie outside you
  6. It’s better to say something that you think can mess up things than to let it mess you up
  7. Self-care is not pampering and baby-ing yourself, it’s parenting yourself
  8. Get some sunlight
  9. Say yes more
  10. Do more things that scare you
  11. You should carry notes of almost all denominations with you
  12. Talk to yourself like you’d talk to your loved ones
  13. There are different seasons of life for different things
  14. Not every friendship is supposed to stay forever and that’s okay
  15. Make time for your loved ones
  16. Schedule joy in your life
  17. Stretch
  18. Get comfortable being alone
  19. Value what you have while you have it
  20. Complete tasks the moment they come to you
  21. Feeling things deeply is your strength
  22. Where there’s a low, a high is inevitable
  23. If it costs you your peace, it’s not worth it

And with that, the 2022 season comes to an end. Goodnight ✨✨
